Overview
BRUCE (Bipedal Robot Unit with Compliance Enhanced) is a kid-size open humanoid platform developed with UCLA's RoMeLa lab and sold by Westwood Robotics, maker of THEMIS. It stands 70 cm and weighs 4.8 kg, with 16 degrees of freedom (5 per leg, 3 per arm) driven by proprioceptive BEAR actuators including liquid-cooled knees, plus about 6 TOPS of onboard compute and a 6-axis IMU. It walks out of the box, ships with a wireless e-stop gamepad in a carry-on case, and lists at $8,950 on the official Westwood Robotics store. Aimed at university labs and dynamic-locomotion researchers.
